If you're looking for a new product to sell , whether it's your first product or just something to complement your existing product line, don't think in terms of the product!

Instead, find a niche you can fill that is not currently being served. Do a little research and find out what people are buying a lot of and find a way to create a better product or one that provides benefits not easily found in the market.

It can take a great deal of money and lots of time to develop a market. It's much simpler and vastly more profitable to find the market first, then develop your product.

One of the easiest ways to find out if there is a niche you can fill is to listen to complaints about your products; sometimes these are not just from niggly customers but actually from customers revealing a niche to you.

Another way is to read trade magazines and look for complaints, try and find out what makes people so unhappy in your industry and then try and make those people happy!
