This type of storage is for the serious person who would like to have all their cd collection on one storage device. The hard drive units tend to have more storage space. The reliability of the hard drive isn't the same as the flash players the hard disk drivers have many spinning parts and memory is based on magnetic technology. This would mean a serious hit or drop could damage your music on your player. No memory source is all 100% safe from loss just keep your music backed up even if it's on the original cd.
