OJ -- Nature's Gold

Fresh squeezed juices can easily be transported to a new level, getting your day off to a great start, delivering important nutrients, energy, and a morning smile.

According to Dr Sandra Cabot, who has published many books on healthy eating, including Raw Juices can Save Your Life!, citrus is one of the healthiest foods available.

"Oranges are one of the highest sources of natural vitamin C in the world," Dr Cabot said. "Oranges have many health benefits including helping to prevent cancer and other diseases, reducing cold and flu and assisting in weight loss."

Her view was supported by independent research from Australia's CSIRO, which found citrus fruits contain an abundance of antioxidants and phytochemicals which are believed to play an important role in protecting the body against a range of illnesses. Oranges are also low on the glycaemic index which means they can help stabilize blood sugar levels and reduce hunger pangs.

Valencia oranges, such as those grown in Australia, are "renowned for their superior juicing properties" says Dr. Cabot. But, fresh juice from this variety can be given extra zing by squeeze a lemon, lime or grapefruit into the juice to boost vitamin C levels and produce different taste sensations.

The following recipes were issued by Growcom Marketing on behalf of Horticulture Australia and Australian Citrus Growers. Australia is now harvesting Valencia oranges -- but these recipes work great with any origin oranges.
