Submitting Your Business Website To Search Engines

In this article, we will review a few suggested guidelines for submitting your business website to search engines and directories.

The first recommendation is that you do not submit your website to any search engine or directory until it is optimized for keywords and content. Both play an important role in where your website will be ranked. After all, if you do not have a high ranking, you might as well not be listed at all. A great tool for achieving this is through the use the IBP (Internet Business Promoter) tool. This tool is exceptional for helping you optimize your website and they do offer a free trial. You can down load a trial version by pasting the following link into your browser:

Make sure that you have plenty of one-way incoming links. You can achieve this best by submitting articles to websites such as www.goarticles.com and www.articlecity.com. Also, submit your website to Directories like Yahoo and DMOZ. Be aware that Yahoo is a bit costly and getting listed in DMOZ can take several months or more, but there are also plenty of free directories out there to submit to.

Content, content, content! Make sure you have plenty of relevant content, and update it regularly (daily if possible). Search engines love new content.

Consider adding a forum to your website or creating a blog. Blogs add one-way inbound links to your site and create returning customers. Also create reciprocal links. Lots of them.... but be sure they are relevant and don't use link farms! It is best if you review your reciprocal links personally and determine yourself if the reciprocating website is relevant to your business.

DO NOT SUBMIT TO GOOGLE. Let them find you through other established links. If you do the link work yourself, Google will eventually find you. They like it better that way.

Be patient! Good rankings do not come overnight. Once you submit, sit back and wait. Do not keep submitting your site, as many search engines and directories will penalize you for this as they make look at it as spamming.

Follow the above basic guidelines and it will help you achieve better ratings.
