Call Accounting Software Puts Telecom Call Detail Record Reporting In Compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and HIPAA Legislation

Secure Call Accounting now makes it possible for corporations to be in full compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and HIPAA regulations as regards call detail records (CDRs), while at the same time keeping down costs. Until now CDR collection over the Internet was not an option for remote corporate sites such as sales offices and small branches that were not on the corporate LAN/WAN.

Partnering with Western Telematic, Incorporated (WTI) of Irvine, California, TelSoft Solutions, a privately held company in Southern California that provides call accounting and billing services to organizations with as few as 100 stations to large multi-location companies exceeding 100,000 employees, has incorporated NetLinkTM II Secure Call Accounting Buffer into their MegaCall system to ensure complete security when remotely extracting and transferring CDRs. Using this just released technology enables secure real-time data collection from an entire enterprise via the corporate LAN/WAN as well as over the public Internet. This eliminates the need for the substantial expense of added equipment, software, or secure network connections to get this data.

"Enterprises who need to track Telecom expenses from multiple locations no longer need to worry about insecure CDR data retrieval from remote switching locations, or the need for highly expensive solutions to make them secure," said Don Simons, CEO of TelSoft Solutions. "This is especially important for security-conscious organizations such as financial institutions and health-care organizations, which not only need to keep data secure from unauthorized users, but must also adhere to stringent regulations regarding proper recipients of data. We are proud to add NetLink II to our MegaCall solution, making it possible to securely retrieve call detail records right over the internet."

MegaCall tracks telephone call activity generated by any type and any number of PBXs from call record source to assignment of accountability. It analyzes call activity for an entire enterprise from a single web-enabled centralized system. All information is collected in real-time and is immediately available for viewing and reporting -- an essential support for call accounting and telecom expense management throughout the enterprise.

NetLink II is the latest in the line of WTI's best-selling PollCat PBX data recorders, the first of its kind to offer Secure FTP (SFTP) for CDR transfer and Secure Shell (SSH) for user authentication. Prior to the introduction of NetLink II, remote secure retrieval of CDR data required hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars for extra equipment per remote switching location, and much of the time the data had to be transmitted over a phone line or private network connection. Because of NetLink II's state-of-the-art security features, the extra equipment is no longer needed, and data can be transmitted right over the public internet, greatly reducing connection costs while maintaining a high level of security.
