VoIP takes regular phone calls and zaps them through your high-speed Internet connection. VoIP uses regular phones, even cordless phones. Simply plug a VoIP adapter into your cable/DSL modem line and then plug your phone into the adapter.

Internet Phone Service is a more generic term for using the Internet to make calls. Internet Phone calls include VoIP but also includes PC based calls. PC based calls use software and PC headsets (or speaker and mic) to initiate the call.
